| Jack Bag Gen2 Customer Review | (Note: This article was published in the Airsoft Xtreme Magazine's 7th issue)
As a manager in the corporate world, a war freak in the airsoft battlefield, and a techno-geek on the side, I've long searched for the über gear bag.
The quest ended when I stumbled upon the Jack Bag (Generation 2) by Tactics a few months ago. I had earlier checked out the products of Oakley, Maxpedition, Victorinox, Case Logic, as well as those of other local gear makers. While they were all finely made stuff, I still found them wanting. Moreover, I think the Oakley and Maxpedition bags called too much attention to themselves by being excessively flashy or inordinately military-looking. On the other end of the spectrum were the Victorinox or Case Logic bags because they were too plain and business-like. Fortunately, I found a gear designed just right-- the Jack Bag by Tactics. The Jack Bag gave a good first impression because it was simply well-thought out, obviously with the needs of the end user in mind. The bag showcases a balance of form and function. For example, it is MOLLE-compatible and the number of pockets in this bag is every control freak's dream come true. I can organize my stuff and find them without having to rummage through the bag. There's even a secret firearm pocket that's very cleverly executed. It is discreet but still allows for a quick draw. The Jack Bag is made of high-quality materials and the craftsmanship is seamless. You know it will last, giving you your money's worth. It makes one wish that Tactics has more distribution outlets aside from what they have in Fort Bonifacio so that more road warriors would come across this gem of a find that is proudly Filipino-made. The bottomline is, the Jack Bag's versatile design and fine workmanship mean it will appeal to many – the deskbound executive, the gadget-laden road warrior, the military operative, and the airsofter. Editor’s note: The author is a general manager of a property development firm for the last 10 years. An engineer by profession, he topped the board exam a year after graduating from the Mapua Institute of Technology. He later earned his MBA degree from the Asian Institute of Management. He discovered the airsoft games several years ago and was instantly hooked. He plays with his team Omegazone using the call sign “Chaplain”. He came up with their motto “Fortis et Celer” (Bold and Swift). They had won first place twice in the annual Kalis competition. FEATURES:
- Zipper around and on top of the main compartment – I usually keep this unzipped but in case you'd like to have an extra layer of protection, it's good to know that you can seal off the entire bag's main compartment with this zipper.
- Zippered pocket with mesh – good for storing ID cards, cables, headphones, and other stuff you'd like to see readily even without opening the zipper.
- Laptop compartment – thick internal padding means your laptop is adequately protected (or your MP5K in case you'd like to carry a different type of 'hardware' for a change).
- Pocket out on bag's flap – given the many sub-pockets inside, this serves as a very fine organizer.
- Side zippered pocket – excellent storage for cellphone/s, cameras, and other gadgets; MOLLE-compatible webbing can take in a lot more attachments.
- Side open pocket – good for slipping in a water bottle, sunglass case, and other medium-sized items.
- Back flap – this section keeps your magazines and documents safe while allowing quick access to them, too.
- Zipper on top of the flap cover – this well-placed zipper means you don't need to open the flap to reach for something inside.
The bag also features a secret yet quick access firearm compartment – not necessarily exclusive for guns; pacifists can keep important papers, such as travel documents, in this ingenious storage and need not fumble inside the bag's main compartment
